23 years ago, Art of Problem Solving was a small community built around a handful of competition math books and a simple idea: young bright minds are capable of far more than what’s being asked of them.

A lot has happened since then.

We’ve written 68 books. Developed 134 active courses. Opened 25 campuses. Through our books, classrooms, online programs, and communities, we’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of thousands of students and families.

And throughout that time, a few special moments kept showing up.

The moment where a parent finds an AoPS program that finally understands what their kid needs. The moment where a student learns that getting it wrong is just a part of getting it right. The confidence that comes not from being told you're good at something, but from struggling with it long enough to discover that you can do it.

Year after year, those moments kept happening, and kept shaping something distinctly AoPS: A space where curious kids learn to take on “impossible” challenges.

That's the AoPS we know. It was time the rest of the world saw more of it, too.

But first, we had some work to do…

We've Grown. Our Look and Feel Needed to Grow With Us.

As AoPS grew, so did the ways students could learn with us. More campuses opened. New subjects entered our classrooms. Beast Academy gave our youngest problem solvers a place of their own. Our online programs reached students across the globe. But somewhere in all that growth, the pieces of AoPS became harder to connect.

A parent might discover Beast Academy without realizing it's part of AoPS. A student finishes Beast Academy and wonders, "What's next?" Or a parent finds AoPS Online and Virtual Campus and thinks, "Wait, aren't both those online? What's the difference?"

Navigating AoPS shouldn't be its own puzzle. Let's save those for class.

And it wasn't just navigation. Like any good problem, the more we looked, the more we found underneath it. We weren't making clear enough what it actually feels like to be part of AoPS.

So we asked ourselves a big question:

How might we better capture what makes AoPS and our students special while helping families experience everything AoPS has to offer?

It's Always Been About the People

As you might expect from us, one question led to quite a bit of thinking.

This wasn't about creating a new AoPS. It was about finding a better way to express the one that's been here all along. So we went back to the moments that had always defined us, and asked how we could bring more of them forward.

Naturally, we did what we ask of our students all the time. We went deeper.

We went to classrooms. We worked with kids. We sat with families. We immersed ourselves in everything we’ve built together.

And we felt what it actually feels like to be part of AoPS. The curiosity of our students. The energy of our classrooms. The teachers who know when to step back and let students step up. The mindset to run towards challenges that once felt impossible. And eventually, to seek out more and more of them.

This is what has always made AoPS unmistakably AoPS.

It was time to capture that spirit and celebrate who we are. Our students didn’t hold back.

A New Look. The Same AoPS.

Next came the challenge of turning that spirit into something tangible. A more connected design system inspired by the energy and joy that has always filled AoPS.

Our logo

AoPS is the logo itself. No separate symbol, just the name and acronym generations of students already know.

At the center is an open-ended  'O.' It represents the space we give students to go deeper on the hard problems they love.

Our colors

Our new colors come from a place familiar to us: the classroom.

Pencils, graph paper, erasers, chalkboards. These are the staples that help students slow down, make a mess, try something, erase it, and try again. They're not tools that do the thinking for them. They're tools that give them the superpowers to solve problems.

Our photography

The students you see throughout our new photography are actually our students. Their personalities. Their tenacity. Their wonderfully AoPS ways of looking at the world.

No actors. No stock photos. Just AoPS kids, being AoPS kids.

We want students to see a place that understands how they think and pushes them to keep going further. A place for their big questions and even bigger ideas, where getting stuck isn't failure and the unknown isn't something to fear.

That's what we're here to do: discover, inspire, and train the great problem solvers of the next generation. The design is new. That mission isn't going anywhere.

Here's to What's Next

There’s more work ahead to make this experience felt everywhere AoPS shows up. But we’re problem solvers. We’ll tackle it the same way we tell our students to approach a hard problem: one step at a time.

This new look is one of those steps.

I’m proud of how much AoPS has grown over the past 23 years.  But I’m even more excited about how many students we still have the opportunity to reach.

There are a lot of great problem solvers out there capable of more than they know.

We can’t wait to meet them.

And now, we’ll look a little more like us, all of us, when we do.
