We’re excited to share an update on Beast Classroom, the only elementary math curriculum that brings the magic of AoPS Beast Academy to public, private, and charter schools. Keep reading to learn more, or scroll to the bottom to find out how you can bring Beast Classroom to your own school!

When our son started third grade in the fall of 2024, my wife and I decided to enroll him in the AoPS Academy near our home. We knew he wasn’t being challenged in math at school, and we heard from friends that AoPS might be the answer. We got exactly what we were hoping for: a rich problem solving experience through AoPS Beast Academy, complete with a community of like-minded parents and students where our son could explore, make friends, and have fun. What we didn’t know yet was how his journey would impact mine as well.

The following spring, AoPS sent an email to Academy parents to announce a new sister company called Inflection Point Learning, dedicated to bringing the Beast Academy vision directly to elementary schools, so that kids could benefit from this program during the school day as well. The email included a link to apply to work there; I submitted my application that very night. After a series of interviews with our leadership team and our board of directors – including AoPS founder and CEO Richard Rusczyk – I ultimately joined the team last August.

Since then, I’ve been thoroughly inspired – both by the incredible talent we’ve assembled, and by the tireless efforts of countless educators to serve their students, despite all the challenges they face every day. That’s why I’m excited that we are a public benefit corporation with an aspirational goal:

‍To help schools and teachers unlock math excellence and problem-solving skills for their students, enabled by deep challenge and joyful learning.

As we come out of another busy back-to-school season, I wanted to share an update with the AoPS community on why we took on this challenge, what we’re building, and how you can help.

Why focus on schools?

Parents of advanced learners often wonder:

• Why isn’t my child more challenged in school?
• Does my child’s teacher have the resources required to best support my child’s needs?
• What can I do personally to foster my child’s growth?

These questions lead many parents directly to AoPS, which for decades has offered the best programs in the world for advanced math learners to develop their problem solving skills together. But out-of-school enrichment, no matter how excellent it is, faces the simple reality that it doesn’t change what happens during the school day. If we want these students to have a better learning experience at school, we need to change what happens at school.

Another simple reality is that far more students would benefit from a rich problem-solving education than currently have access to one. Whether because of time, money, awareness, prior preparation, or some other factor, out-of-school learning only reaches a subset of ambitious students. To fully achieve the AoPS mission – to discover, inspire, and train the next generation of problem solvers – we must reach students at school.

Finally, because the youngest learners represent the greatest opportunity for lasting impact, we are starting with a focus on curriculum for elementary schools. Beginning our journey here comes with a huge benefit: we can tap into AoPS Beast Academy, which is already the top choice for thousands of families.

What we're building: Beast Classroom

To tackle this ambitious goal, we knew we needed to build an expanded elementary math solution to address the unique needs of schools. We now offer that solution under a new name: Beast Classroom.

Beast Classroom includes two products:

• Beast Core (currently in pilot): a complete, standards-aligned K–5 core curriculum that makes rigorous math fun and enables growth for all, including a school’s most advanced learners. For teachers that adopt Beast Core, it replaces their existing primary math curriculum for everyday use.
• Beast Enrichment: a supplemental math program that lives alongside a school’s existing core math curriculum, taking grade-level math deeper and presenting ideas that K–5 standards omit entirely. Beast Enrichment is built with the engaging comics & puzzles of Beast Academy at its core, but with additional tools, data, and support designed specifically for teachers & administrators in public, private, and charter school settings.

Across both these products, teachers get the full benefit of what’s always made AoPS Beast Academy unique:

• deep challenge to ensure every student, including a school’s most advanced learners, grow every day
• immersive comics that introduce content knowledge, model healthy math mindsets, and build community
• engaging puzzles for practice that is both joyful and effective

All these benefits are available whether a school prefers online learning or print materials. Regardless of an educator’s perspective on tech in the classroom, we offer a great solution.

Perhaps most importantly, we know that the teachers and admins we work with face an array of obstacles and competing demands, so we provide robust educator training and support, including professional learning on math pedagogy and deep training on how to teach with Beast Classroom to maximum effect. We want schools to feel fully prepared to roll out the program, which is not just about curriculum knowledge, but also about how to foster an inspiring experience and strong math culture in the classroom. We’ve seen that this support has helped many teachers look forward to math as their favorite part of the day.

For schools who adopt Beast Classroom, we unlock a broad array of outcomes for students, all of which will sound familiar to any Beast Academy fan:

• problem-solving skills, because kids need to know what to do when they don’t know what to do
• positive feelings about math, because too many kids conclude that math isn’t for them, before they’ve even seen what true math learning looks like

Our experience with unlocking the magic of Beast Classroom in schools goes back several years, to long before the formation of Inflection Point Learning.
